Planning

Planning my shoots

The plan will go as follows
1. technique name.
2. technique description.
3. what i will use to make the image.
4. equipment and location.
5. technical considerations.
6. possible difficulties
Scanograms
scanograms create a detailed scan of an image that is placed on the scanner.
i will be using my phone, money, a pen, my badges and my hands.
I'm going need the scanner in Richard's room.
the laptop or scanner could overheat or the power could go off.
too many people and not enough time for one scanner.

Emulsion transfers
emulsion transfers are used to create a "broken" like effect on a printed image
i will be using an image printed off of either/both the internet and my personal photos
i will be needing the art room for the paint, paint brushes and dryers.
will have to put down paper so i don't get paint all over the tables (despite it being an art room)
the brush could snap (unlikely) the power could go out or we could run out of paint.

Projection photography
projection photography create a pasted image over an object or person with a projector.
i will be using the projector with this image on the right to project onto my model.
i will need a tripod, the projector and an image in the studio.
battery could run out so save the battery.
the bulb in the projector could burst and the backdrop could rip.

Double exposures
double exposures are when in image is taken or edited to have one solid image and one translucent image.
i will use myself and a model to edit the original 2 images.
i will need the studio lighting and a computer with photoshop on in Richard's room.
Iso 800 1/60-1/125 shutter speed and f5.6
i could be overcrowded or it could be raining.

Zoom bursts
zoom bursts are used to create coloured blur in an image along with the zoom effect.
i will need trees, people and the construction site.
i will only need my camera for this one but will be taken around college grounds.
ISO 400 1/250 shutter speed and f3.6
some people might no want their picture taken or my battery could die.

Light paintings
light paintings are used to paint straight onto the image which creates a bright solid light.
my phone will be best to use because of the flash on the back of it.
i will need a tripod and a model to aid me.
Long exposure (30 sec or bulb usage) ISO 600 and f22
someone could open the door and ruin the created image by over exposing light.

Experimental Techniques

There are certain techniques that require certain things to create and usually the result image is very very unique.

Scanograms
Scanograms are where you take a picture with a scanner of an object which creates a certain effect on the object displayed. For example this image above has an image of a doll, 2 pearl like necklaces, doll shoes and a feather like object. on the doll it creates a darkness effect on the sides of the doll while it centers in the image. It almost makes the image look horror like. Scanograms are always in a black background. someone who uses this type of photography is clare west.

Emulsion transfers
Emulsion transfers have a complicated process but the result image turns out excellent. Emulsion pictures are where ink jet or laser jet printed photos are diluted onto paper and create a lighter effect on the original image. kathleen carr is a book writer on this type of photography.

Projections
projection photography is great for pasting faint images onto a person like patterns of abstract painting or galaxies or flowers etc. Everything works for projections but the problem is the shadow that can project onto the background it can either be minuscule or half the background.

Double exposure
Double exposures can give you a great feel for the image on what its trying to tell you like this one above could be saying "keep your evil side in the shadows" or something along those lines. Double exposures can sometimes be done on the camera and/or on photoshop.

Zoom bursts/Abstract zoom
abstract zoom/zoom bursts have a particular effect which makes the image that much better. When you zoom in whilst taking the picture which makes all the image and colors all around the centre of the image blur and look more vibrant.

Light paintings
Light paintings are my favorite type of photography because it gives me a chance to be creative with what i do. outlining someone with light like this makes a bit of the object in the middle light up which adds more effect to the image.
